Golden State Farm Credit Willows: Empowering Young Leaders in Agriculture

As I reflect on my journey with the Golden State Farm Credit Willows, I am reminded of the incredible opportunities that lie ahead for young farmers and ranchers. The California Farm Bureau's Young Farmers and Ranchers (YF&R) program has been instrumental in shaping me into a leader in the agriculture community.

I joined the state YF&R Committee in 2018 as a fourth-generation almond and walnut grower from Willows, without knowing what to expect. But little did I realize that this decision would open doors to incredible experiences, including the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Egypt last November.

The conference was a game-changer for me, as it provided a platform to share California farmers' innovative approaches to water conservation with delegates from around the world. Speaking on the 'Water is the Face of Climate Change' panel alongside other industry experts was a humbling experience that showcased the resilience and adaptability of our agricultural community.

The YF&R program has been instrumental in helping me develop skills, build relationships, and gain confidence as a young farmer. As last year's chair of the California Farm Bureau's Young Farmers and Ranchers Program, I had the privilege of taking a California message to the global stage, advocating for sustainable agriculture practices and highlighting the importance of water conservation.

The program has also provided me with opportunities to connect with fellow farmers and ranchers from diverse backgrounds, sharing knowledge, experiences, and best practices. These connections have been invaluable in helping me navigate the ever-changing agricultural landscape.

As a young farmer, I am grateful for the Golden State Farm Credit Willows' support of the YF&R program, which has empowered me to take on leadership roles and make a positive impact in our community.
